What is the legal age to buy a SIM card in Taiwan?
I will be heading there this summer and I have an unlocked phone, but my friends keep telling me I need to be 20 to buy a SIM card. Is this true? Or can I buy one even though I’m not 20.
Ironically, it’s not so much age as your status as a resident. Some cellphone stores are hesitant to give anyone without an ARC a cell number, i.e. SIM card. You’ll have to shop around and you’ll need your visa for sure. Different stores will allow foreigners to pick up a SIM with only a visa. I’ve written some information about this on
