how does the rolling tin can work?!??!?
my science teacher placed something in a tin can. its a normal tin can and it used to be filled with grinded coffee beans.
he rolls the tin can across the school hallway and it just rolls back…
the floor is not crooked because he rolled it in several places and each place he rolls it, it is a flat surface. im sure the trick is inside the tin can and not the surroundings of the tin can, but its been stuck in my head about what’s in it…
i tried a hand ball (the ones that are like tennis balls but without the furry exterior and is bouncier) and it works, but he said that that is not what he placed in the tin can!!
does anyone have any idea what it might be inside the ‘magic tin can’?

One method uses a rubber band which is attached to the lid and the base of the can. A heavy object hangs from the middle of the band. When he rolls the tin can, the rubber band twists up, storing energy. (The heavy object keeps the band fixed in the middle, so that it twists rather than just rotates along with the can. When the can stops, the band begins to untwist, providing the energy to roll the can back.
